At the western edge of Scotland lie the final lands before the wide and wild Atlantic ocean. With turquoise waters leading to white sands and machair dunes before stretching across loch-dappled moorland and rising up towards towering peaks, the islands are a world in themselves.

I was fortunate to have the opportunity to visit most of the main islands to survey breeding seabirds as part of the Seabird Count national census.
